  • Estrogen. During pregnancy, the estrogen level increases. This causes you to feel nauseous and vomit.
  • Hypoglycemia. When your blood sugar level drops, you will feel sick. Thus, it is also important to watch your blood glucose during pregnancy.
  • Progesterone. Hormonal imbalance is a common thing during gestation. When you are pregnant, your estrogen and progesterone levels increase. High progesterone levels contribute in impeding the digestive tract.
  • Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). This is considered one of the primary reasons of morning sickness. When your HCG level is high, it causes your suffering since the body is not used to this hormone.
  • Lack of Vitamin B. Some says low vitamin B levels have something to do with morning sickness. Thus, it is essential to take vitamin B when you are conceiving.

When Does It Start?

Usually, morning sickness begins at first few weeks of pregnancy. You can likely experience it as early as six weeks. In a regular menstruation cycle, your condition starts three weeks after getting pregnant. Morning sickness typically ends between the 12th or 16th week. According to specialists, 20 percent of women will likely experience having it until after the baby comes out.

What Can You Do About It?

Before the condition worsens, you have to do something about it. Prevent it. If you think there are no ways to avoid it, think again. Since it starts early, it means you can still control it.

The most important step you can do is to eat and drink plenty of fluids. An empty stomach usually worsens nausea. You can eat small portions if you don’t have an appetite and eat more once you feel better.

When you are outside, always keep a healthy snack with you in case, you will feel hungry. Do not just let a day pass by without eating. If you don’t have an appetite, try taking a liquid supplement for that day.

Are There Ways To Soothe Your Morning Sickness?

If a cure becomes active to someone, it doesn’t mean that it will also have the same effects on you. If a morning sickness remedy doesn’t work out, don’t worry because you can try other options. You must not just stick to one option. I have provided a list of the things that you can work:

  • Cold food and fluid. You can try ice chips, popsicles, ice creams, or watermelons.
  • Mouthwash. Use this to rinse excess saliva.
  • ​Sniffing citrus. This will help you get rid of that smell. You can choose the scents according to your personal preference. You have various scents to choose from such as eucalyptus, lemon grass, lavender, etc
  • ​Ginger. You can take a ginger tea to calm and soothe you.
  • Vitamins. Avoid vitamins with iron, and you can ask your doctor for vitamin B6 supplements.
  • Bland Food. You can try crackers, whole grain toast, rice cakes, or dry crackers.

Morning Sickness And Pregnancy

Morning sickness only happens when your HCG increases, meaning, you are pregnant. Consider this as a journey through your gestation period. Although some women experience moderate to bad symptoms, it will be harmless to you and your baby.

As long as you take care of yourself, you can get through it in your way. Morning sickness doesn’t look bad, although it feels wrong to most women. At the end of the day, no matter how bad it is, it will all be worth it once you have seen the baby for the first time. Morning sickness is still nothing compared to that moment.
